Children First serves students and their families in Wichita, Kansas through schools in eight low-income neighborhoods by actively engaging with families, other non-profit organizations, and the wider community to achieve student success.

Garden-to-Kitchen – Teaches students to plant, maintain, harvest, and cook their own foods. They learn healthy eating habits they can carry into adulthood.
Project Starfish – Focus on students and families who need intensive case management, resources, and general help to improve students’ attendance and improving their families’ economic security.
Bread Club – Students of all ages can learn to bake, share recipes, and make bread to donate to families experiencing food insecurity in Wichita. Just as important, we invite guest bakers who want to teach young bakers the bread recipes passed down from their parents and grandparents, preserving family baking traditions through generations and across cultures.

Children First serves eight schools in Wichita, Kansas, supporting more than 1,300 K-8 students and their families in low-income, food-insecure neighborhoods.
