Special Spaces is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating personalized dream bedrooms for children with cancer. Recognizing the isolation and challenges these children face, the organization provides them with a customized space where they can sleep, relax, and play, helping to bring a sense of normalcy and joy into their lives.
The goal is to provide these children with a unique space where they can sleep, relax, recover, and simply enjoy being kids. A custom bedroom is designed specifically for each child. Whether a child dreams of a princess castle, a butterfly-themed room, a pirate ship, or a sports-themed space, the existing bedroom is transformed into a place where they can just be kids.
This effort is made possible through the work of dedicated volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and donations of goods or services. The Special Spaces team collaborates with the family to design the bedroom and provides all necessary supplies. Bedrooms may include new paint, furniture, rugs, window treatments, closet organization, medical storage, light fixtures, bedding, painted murals, and custom décor. With a hands-on team, they create a truly special bedroom.
Since its founding in 2004, Special Spaces has grown into a national organization, completing over 1,700 bedroom makeovers across multiple states with the help of volunteers, sponsors, and community partners.
