Have you ever counted the number of items custom printed with a business name & logo you use daily or weekly? How many of those call your kitchen home? As I look around my kitchen I begin to realize how many I have and how often I use them…pizza cutters, chip clips, jar openers, cooking utensils, bottle openers, refrigerator magnet clips, oven mitts, aprons, measuring spoons and so on.
Aside from the many custom imprinted pens I have in my drawer and on my desk, I am not sure I would find more marketing items anywhere in my house than in my kitchen. According to the 2012 Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) ad recall study, 81% of the participants said the main reason for keeping an advertising product is its usefulness. What’s not useful about something that makes preparing dinner easier?
So, “Why would I promote my business any other way?” you ask. Well for many reasons; but, here are some great reasons why you should consider promoting your brand in kitchens across the country. As mentioned in the 2012 PPAI ad recall study, if people like the promotional product they are using, and find it useful, they associate with your business in a positive way. If 81% of the participants surveyed said they keep a imprinted item because it’s useful and 21% keep a household item because of its perceived attractiveness, I do not see how you could go wrong branding your company on the handle of an ice cream scooper or on the cover of a food storage container. Since we need to eat everyday, choosing high quality attractive kitchen products will enhance your brand and will keep your business top of mind. Remember kitchen & cooking gadgets are not just for culinary schools or food fairs. Expand your reach with out-of-the-box ideas. For example a daycare center could take advantage of silicone cutting boards and a plastic blade pizza cutter to easily cut play-dough, but not little fingers! Or use personalized aprons for an art studio to keep your clothes clean and free of paint or other art materials.

Promotional products are frequently present and used in our daily lives. 47% of these items have a shelf life of more than a year giving them a higher reach and higher potential for brand recall. In addition they are an excellent way to increase and to sustain brand awareness. Think about this the next time you’re given the task of picking out a branding product for your next event. Happy cooking!
