The Adel B. Korkor Foundation for Mental Health is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving mental health awareness, access to care, and overall wellness through the power of movement and community support. Founded by physician and mental health advocate Dr. Adel B. Korkor, the organization was created to address the growing mental health crisis while reducing stigma surrounding mental illness.
The foundation believes that physical activity plays a critical role in emotional and mental well-being and works to make movement an integral part of mental health care. Through grants, partnerships, educational initiatives, and community programs, the organization supports innovative approaches to mental wellness across the United States and beyond.
Its efforts focus on areas such as suicide prevention, mental health education, affordable care access, early intervention, and support for underserved communities. The foundation also promotes mental health literacy through schools, healthcare programs, podcasts, webinars, and creative arts initiatives that encourage open conversations about emotional wellness.
The AB Korkor Foundation is excited to introduce its next evolution: the Steps For Strong Minds 5K Run/Walk, a family-focused mental health event designed to be more accessible, community-centered, and welcoming to participants of all ages and abilities—continuing the movement forward, one step at a time.
At its core, the Adel B. Korkor Foundation for Mental Health is committed to creating healthier, more resilient communities by combining compassion, education, wellness, and action to inspire hope and healing.
