CAPACares, founded in 1975, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preventing and treating all forms of child abuse and neglect.
The organization provides comprehensive services, including mental health counseling for children and non-offending caregivers who have experienced abuse or trauma, home visiting programs, parenting education classes, and school-based prevention programs. CAPACares offers community and school-based outreach, social-emotional learning, and professional training for adults who are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect.
Their school-based education programs for elementary and middle school children use class discussions, role-playing, videos, and handouts to teach kids about personal safety, communication skills, and getting along with others.
