Flat Out Love

Flat Out Love

Flat Out Love is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting people who’ve chosen a “flat” closure following breast amputation, mastectomy, or explant surgery. They create safe spaces and community through both in-person meetups and online groups, giving those who identify as “Flatties” an inclusive place for healing, affirmation, and connection.

The organization works to normalize living flat — whether through aesthetic flat closure (AFC), explanting, single or double amputation — and to shift cultural expectations about reconstruction. They also use a “Flat Closure Now / Flat Out Love” framework to advocate, educating others about flat closure as a valid choice.

Flat Out Love hosts large-scale “Flat Out on Flat Top” events that bring together Flatties from across North America, offering workshops, fashion shows, community time, and healing programming. The founders aim to expand local meetups through an online network to foster ongoing connections in communities everywhere.

They emphasize that people are complete and whole, regardless of body shape, surgery history, or the choice not to reconstruct. Their mission includes awareness, normalization, community, and mental health support for those on the flat journey.
