Freedom Waters Foundation enhances the well-being of children, adults with disabilities, and veterans through therapeutic boating experiences. Their mission is to offer opportunities for freedom, self-worth, accomplishment, and joy. They provide marine-based social and environmental programs through direct service and community partnerships.
The foundation works collaboratively with the boating public, marine industry, and philanthropic resources to build a greater sense of community, understanding, and tolerance. Founded in 2006 by Debra Frenkel and John Weller, the organization initially focused on children with cancer but has since expanded to serve individuals with life-threatening illnesses, disabilities, at-risk youth, and veterans. The name “Freedom Waters” reflects the sense of freedom experienced on the water.
