The National AfterSchool Association (NAA) is a professional membership organization dedicated to strengthening the out-of-school-time profession and improving outcomes for children and youth. NAA supports the professionals and leaders who provide meaningful learning, enrichment, and development opportunities outside of traditional school hours.
Its mission is to foster positive youth outcomes by supporting, developing, and advocating for afterschool professionals and leaders. Through professional development, resources, advocacy, and community-building opportunities, NAA helps equip those working with young people with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.
The organization believes every young person deserves access to high-quality, enriching experiences that help them learn, grow, and thrive. NAA also works to advance equity, access, and connections across the out-of-school-time field, recognizing the important role these programs play in supporting children, families, and communities.
The association also advocates for policies, practices, funding, and professional standards that strengthen the quality and sustainability of afterschool programs. At its core, NAA is committed to building a stronger, more valued afterschool profession so that youth everywhere can benefit from safe, engaging, and impactful experiences beyond the school day.
