ReCreate, is an educational nonprofit which utilizes diverted materials to provide hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and environmental education focused lessons to K-12 students. They work with local businesses and manufacturers to divert byproduct materials from ending up in the landfill. Through these donations of perfectly clean and reusable materials, they are able to pair them with a few sourced items to make hands-on creative maker kits that they provide to students for active, engaging lessons. They serve upwards of 10,000 students annually with their two programs, which both use these diverted materials. ReCreate operates More Art, Less Wasteâ„¢ which is their environmental education program that serves K-5th grade students. ReCreate also operates their GeniusMobile program, where they educate on STEM-focused lessons using the diverted materials. Students learn concepts such as coding, physics, biology and engineering in an innovative and hands-on manner. They base their lessons on education standards for each grade they serve. In addition, ReCreate also operates a Reuse Warehouse store, where general and crafting donations are sold for low prices to the public.
