Their Mission

The Mockingbird Foundation broadens access and educational opportunities for young people in music and the musical arts.
The Idea

Born from the community of fans of the band Phish, the organization raises funds throughout the year in order to issue micro-grants to schools and music programs in cities in which the bands plays. The Foundation is named for a character in Phish songs who retrieves a collection of “all knowledge inherent in the universe” from the evil King Wilson, who took it from the peaceful and innocent Lizards, and returns it via Colonel Forbin.

Their Commitment

The organization is entirely volunteer run – thus distributing all possible funds to charity. Since their inception in 1996, Mockingbird has issued 558 grants totaling over $2M across all 50 states.
