The Wily Network partners with college students in the greater Boston area who are working towards their degrees without emotional or financial support from family. Wily Scholars may have experienced homelessness or foster care and have been denied family support. All are talented and motivated, and all are braving college on their own.
The Wily Network’s core values are the foundational principles that guide their organization. Ultimately, their Core Values help us to ensure that all members of the Wily community feel a sense of belonging and know that their voices are valued.
These core values underpin their entire organization. They shape how they approach their work and conduct their personal relationships; they are the lens through which they make strategic decisions; they influence how they hire, train, and acknowledge their staff. To reflect this centrality, their core values shape the indicators they use to measure their success.
On an ongoing basis, The Wily Network evaluates how well they are living up to their core values, and they continually look for new and effective ways to embed them in their organization.
Wily Scholars are the heart of their mission
They shape every decision they make around how best to partner with Scholars during their college journeys. Scholars’ voices are a critical component of their decision-making process. They reflect on how each of their individual perspectives and identities influence their work with Scholars.
They believe in the power of deep, trusting relationships
The Wily Network is a reliable presence in Scholars’ lives. They join Scholars in building reciprocal and transformational relationships. They are intentional about creating a space where all members of the Wily community can share their authentic selves and feel a true sense of belonging.
They believe in the strength of their pack
Together, Wily Scholars form a pack that supports and celebrates one another. They work collaboratively with colleges, local nonprofits, and a dedicated base of volunteers to build a broad community of support for Scholars.
They are committed to the long term
As an organization and in their individual relationships with Scholars, they only make commitments they can keep. The Wily Network is there for Scholars through college and beyond. Wily alums remain an integral part of their pack.
They are a listening/learning organization committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
They make decisions with intention. They continually evaluate their program and are adaptable to meet their staff and Scholar needs. The Wily Pack is made up of unique identities, backgrounds and perspectives, and they strive to honor each individual’s lived experiences.
