Join the Fight: Promote with Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the American Cancer Society estimates that 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 13%) will develop invasive breast cancer at some point in her lifetime. And though less common, the American Cancer Society estimates that 1 in 833 U.S. men will battle breast cancer in his lifetime.

For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than for any other type of cancer except for lung cancer and is second only to skin cancer as most frequently diagnosed cancer. These breast cancer statistics are sobering and disheartening, but Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an invitation to everyone to join the fight. Spreading awareness of the risk factors and encouraging early detection screening can be the crucial first steps in receiving treatment quickly and increasing the odds of success.

How can your organization be a part of the battle against breast cancer?

First, decide what the scope of your campaign will be – from supporting local patients or treatment facilities with blankets, umbrellas, printed mugs, or other comforting gifts, or participating in a run/walk with team logo t-shirts and promotional water bottles, to sponsoring a fundraising gala – there are many options and you can choose one that best suits your organization’s culture, size, and budget for charitable giving. Additionally, you can fundraise within your organization through 50-50 raffles, auctions, or contests using breast cancer awareness lanyards, pens, or bags as prizes or to express your thanks for participation.
