The National Center for Victims of Crime

The National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC) is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting individuals, families, and communities affected by crime. Established in 1985, NCVC offers a range of services, including confidential helplines, attorney referrals, and interactive trainings. Their mission is to forge a national commitment to help victims rebuild their lives.

NCVC operates the VictimConnect Resource Center, a referral helpline providing information about victims’ rights and options confidentially and compassionately. They also manage the DC Victim Hotline, offering 24/7 support to crime victims in Washington, D.C. Through initiatives like the Center for Victim & Survivor Services and the Victim Assistance to Support Tribes (VAST) Center, NCVC ensures that underserved communities, including Indigenous populations, have access to necessary resources.

In addition to direct services, NCVC engages in policy advocacy, aiming to secure rights and protections for crime victims at local, state, and federal levels. Their annual National Training Institute provides education and training for victim service professionals, law enforcement, and advocates. By combining direct support with systemic advocacy, NCVC strives to create a more just and compassionate response to crime victims nationwide.
