Winnebago County Goat Project

Winnebago County Goat Project

The Winnebago County Goat Project is a growing youth educational program that operates as part of the Winnebago County 4-H program in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, providing hands-on learning opportunities for young people interested in goat husbandry and livestock management.

The project is part of the broader 4-H youth development initiative that serves over 685 youth and 120 adult volunteers across Winnebago County, teaching life skills through project-based education. Youth participants in the Goat Project learn about proper animal care, nutrition, health management, and showmanship while developing responsibility, confidence, and leadership skills. The project is also featured in the “Endless Adventures” Special Needs Goat Show held during the fair, which provides an inclusive opportunity for youth with special needs to participate in showing goats, calves, and sheep.

Through community fundraising events such as goat yoga sessions held as benefits for the project, the program engages the broader community while raising awareness and funds to support youth participants.
